Yes, after installing the app you get access to basic features. To unlock all servers and maximum speed, start a Premium subscription — it can be cancelled at any time.

The subscription is cancelled in the personal account on the website. After cancellation, access is kept until the end of the paid period.

Modern protocols and wide channels keep speed loss to a minimum. For gaming, pick the geographically nearest server to lower ping. In most scenarios the effect on speed is unnoticeable.
